Scottish Varsity Match

Divider-8px

The Scottish Varsity Match between Scotland’s two oldest Universities takes place every year in Edinburgh at the national stadium BT Murrayfield. The unique fixture between the University of St Andrews and the University of Edinburgh dates back more than 150 years and predates the annual Oxford versus Cambridge Varsity Match played at Twickenham.

After more than 100 years, the match returned in 2011 between the two universities and was played at the Richmond Athletic Ground in London, home of London Scottish, before moving to Murrayfield in 2015. Recent years have seen the Saints win four of the last five encounters, including an historic last-minute victory in 2015 thanks to scrum-half Finn Murphy. Alumni, supporters, friends and family of both Universities are invited each year to attend this historic game which provides a stellar day out for the rugby fan.
