This November saw, again, the University of St Andrews Men’s Rugby Club take part in Movember; a charity raising awareness for men’s health worldwide. Recent years have seen many successful campaigns by the club, and this year was no different.
All members of the club proudly grew some grotesque facial hair – some more impressive than others – in an effort to raise awareness and collect donations for the charity. There was some outstanding individual fundraising, with many members of the club raising hundreds of pounds by their own efforts. Sadly, a few clubmen were too shy to share their progress pictures with the club’s Movember Facebook page which you can find at: @UniversityofStAndrewsRFCMovember
As usual, the club’s campaign would culminate in the annual Movember Ball, which was held for the second year running at the Apex Hotel in Dundee. The event was well attended with 200 very keen supporters of the cause, coming together to raise money through donations on the night, as well as a raffle and an auction where there are no doubt some very satisfied winners!
Overall, the club managed to raise £1000 the night of the ball and just shy of £5000 during the entire month for the Movember charity – a cause the UStARFC is keen to support for many years to come.
