Our partnership with the Cavaliers
For may years, the club has enjoyed a strong affiliation with the Steve Sims cavaliers Foundation, a charity set up in memory of our former Club and 1st XV captain, who tragically passed away in 2012.
This year the club is focusing the vast majority of its volunteering effort towards the foundation, and looks forward to further integrating the Cavliers’ goals into our club values. Many of the club members are taking on significant roles within the foundation, which is focusing its attention on tackling issues surrounding concussion in the grassroots game.
This year, 3 UStARFC men completed runs at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival- raising hundreds of pounds for the charity. The 2019/20 season looks to be a massive one for both the club and the Cavs, with many of the club men looking to volunteer at the Cavaliers pop up bar named ‘Malones at Murrayfield’ during the International window. We are also looking to trial concussion-detecting gumshields this season through the charity, which would be a first for the UK.
The partnership we have with the Cavs looks to be going from strength to strength, and we look forward to aiding its development over the coming year.
