Leavers 2019

Website Leavers 2018-19

Looking back on the past year, a special mention must be given to the 2019 leavers and their role in leading the club forward over the past year. The leavers of 2019 have been at the core of the rugby club, massively shaping it into what the club is today. They leave the club in a much healthier place, thanks to their hard work and invaluable support throughout their time at St. Andrews.

Though we would like to thank all our leavers for their contribution over their time at university, a special thanks must be given to the outgoing committee members and the strides they have taken to drive the club forward.

Vice-Club captain Scott MacGregor has driven standards both on and off the pitch during his time in the club and has ensured the club is as integrated as ever.

Cameron Lynde, as treasurer over the past two years, has done an outstanding job in running the financial side of the club. He has certainly put us in a very strong financial position from which we look forward to building on.

Michael Sutherland’s success with this years St Andrews Brewing Company Sevens continues to grow the United Kingdom’s biggest student sevens tournament. We look forward to building on his hard work next year, continuing to improve this peerless event.

As social conveyor for the last two years Connor Stobo has led the club off the pitch and has taken this role to new heights. His dedication and commitment to the rest of the club and has certainly left the club in strong position and allow us to continue to push on.

A special thanks must also be given to both Rob Lind and Charlie Davies for their hugely positive influence on he club. Rob has excelled on the rugby pitch over his time at St. Andrews, vice-captaining the 1st XV for the last two seasons and representing the Waterboy’s in both Dubai and Hong Kong in the lead up to their respective World Series Sevens tournaments. Furthermore, his captaincy of the Scottish Students side this year again shows the levels of success he has brought, representing St. Andrews with distinction. Although Charlie’s playing time was diminished this year his influence within the club was not. He took it upon himself to organise and coach the 4th XV which proved to be an extremely difficult task at times. The Club would like to thank Charlie for his efforts not only for the last year but his four years at St. Andrews.

Finally, we would like to thank Roland Walker for his dedication over his five years with the University of St. Andrews Rugby Football Club. As 1st XV captain over the last two seasons Roland has set the standards on the pitch incredibly high. His positive influence has extended further than the 1st XV, driving the club’s playing contingent to reach new heights across the board.

We look forward to welcoming back all of our alumni for the Varsity game with Edinburgh on 21st September 2019 and our continued link with them.

Once again, the club would like to thank all our leavers for their contribution to the success of our club, and we greatly look forward to seeing them in the years to come.
